All About Godofredo's Australian Landscapes and Absracts

The Artist: Godofredo

Godofredo  is a resident of Hawthorn, Victoria Australia and an active  member ( as an alias) of the Hawthorn Arts Society (HAS). A vibrant group of eclectic painters who explore the technological boundaries of different landscape types, textures and colours. A dynamic cauldron of learning and sharing all ideas.

Over the last 30 to 40  odd years, Godofredo was fascinated by the artistic endeavours and excellence inspired by his dear aunt Mrs Margaret Alexander and finally Mrs June ( “Coppy”) Marshall. These fine women were  innovators in their painting techniques, materials used, subjects painted and drawn. He used to engage with them at every opportunity he had, so as  to learn and understand their painting creeds’. His landscape paintings have also being influenced by the Impressionist  Artists such Paul Cezanne and Claude Monet.

These fine women had a simple mantra to him, “ just paint freely as the mind takes you, don’t fuss over small detail…. be bold with design and colour mix, as you can always start again”

With these thoughts firmly in his mind, Godofredo commenced his artistic journey circa mid 2000's by drawing charcoal scenes….. mistakes and misguided interpretations were easily corrected with a hand, cloth or eraser and he quickly developed a style in such scenes that reflected the culture and dynamic of those communities. Godofredo drew coastal scenes in Victoria on the Bellarine Peninsula, in the Mallee and Wimmera regions of Victoria and in many small villages scenes in Spain during his frequent visits there.

In November 2019, Godofredo started participating at regular painting sessions at HAS and developed an interest in painting Australian landscapes with acrylic paints by using bold and vivid colours of the outback… deep blue skies,  rich okra/red/yellow landscapes and vivid deep greens. Also, in Norway and Sweden using the dramatic colours of the verdure rugged mountains and the azure majestic skies.

It is amazing were this journey takes Godofredo….his recent paintings and style has evolved using powerful images of the dramatic outback environments, the rich and vibrant autumnal  colours of the wild flowers of the Southern Australian Alps and the stunning Southern skies. Using the full kitbag of painting tools including palette knifes, cloth brushes, etc, that provide bulk and  texture to the rugged features of the landscape splendours', his range of interests and painting subjects is always evolving.

From time to time, I will include Guest Artists, their Bios and examples of their outstanding works which adds to the rich Australian cultural heritage depicted in this website

Saludos cordiales,

Godofredo
